Values We Live By

1

Positivity

Positivity doesn’t mean that we’re pretending there aren’t real challenges facing every business. But we believe we can improve things.

2

Connection

We view marketing, at its core, as being a means of human connection.

3

Mindset Matters

A shared mindset is powerful when it comes to any two entities working together. At Avid Marketing, we expect positive results from our efforts. Our clients do too.

Company Values

These days, it seems like most company values are rather generic. Common picks like “integrity” or “dedication” or even the overused term “innovation” might be spotted on posters on the wall or a webpage of any business from a car dealership to your local bank. Yet, unless employees agree with their company’s values, and understand how they can be demonstrated – they’re just empty words. Read on for more details on Avid Marketing’s values.

Yes, positivity is one of our core values. This doesn’t mean that we’re looking at life naively expecting everything to be fine, or pretending there aren’t real challenges facing every business. But we believe we can improve things – whether it’s finding new channels to connect people (to businesses) or better ways to communicate.

In addition to having a positive mindset when it comes to marketing efforts for our clients, we also believe we can make a positive difference in our community. Each quarter, Avid Marketing RVA donates a portion of net income to a non-profit organization that helps people in need, serves the underserved, and/or helps people transform their lives. Long-term clients have the opportunity to vote on the non-profit each quarter. For more information, check out the Avid Gives page.

A note for pessimists: if you are looking for a change in your perspective, hop on over to our Good Reads page for a few (or many) books recommendations that can help. And you have full permission to get yourself an audiobook, because we know you’re busy.

We view marketing, at its core, as being a means of human connection.

The old days of marketing and advertising were about attacking people with a message. The old way was interrupting a show with a commercial, trying to convince people that they needed something. We are not here to attack, but to attract. Like a magnet, we want to gently pull the people who are looking for what you offer, directly to your business so you can meet their needs.

We want to connect people with a need, to the people in your business ready to meet that need. Even when we are talking about Business to Business (B2B) marketing, we are still connecting humans with humans. And while Avid Marketing primarily works with service-based businesses, you could say that even people in search of products need to be connected to other people – every product represents the idea of another person.

Let’s discuss mindset. A shared mindset is powerful when it comes to any two entities working together, including a marketing company and its clients. Our mindset at Avid is that we expect positive results from our marketing efforts, and our clients do too.

Positivity is one of our values at Avid Marketing RVA. But having a mindset that’s not just focused on great results, but expecting them, goes one step further. Our thoughts and beliefs hold power.

“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”

-Henry Ford

Values in Action

Positivity and Connection are still nouns, you say. How exactly do we turn them into verbs, into action? With mindfulness, and some advice from Brené Brown in Dare to Lead:

“Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk—we are clear about what we believe and hold important, and we take care that our intentions, words, thoughts, and behaviors align with those beliefs.”

“We don’t have to be perfect, just engaged and committed to aligning values with action.”
